I have studied at and sent students to some of the world's best universities (click here for a well respected list). What then, does the everyday work of a student who will one day be admitted to one of these places look like? This page is organised by age but including the UK year group (year 7 is for 11 year olds) and a grading system the some schools use outside of the UK (grade 6 is for 11 year olds).
Grade 6 (UK Year 7, 11 year olds)
A selection of mind maps produced by grade 6 students, with comments
Grade 7 (UK Year 8, 12 year olds)
Grade 7 Topic book copleted click here
Grade 10 (UK Year 11, 15 year olds; iGCSE Chemistry)
For a complete set of notes, excluding topic 14, click here
Grade 11 (UK Year 12, 16 year olds; AS Level/IB Chemistry)
To get a good feel for the level you need to be working at here for the highest grade below are some example of excellent work.
What the ablest students I have taught have done in the past is print out a pile of past exam questions, broken down by topic, answered them, checked the answers, and the few marks they couldn't figure out using their notes and textbook, and the ChemGuide website (which is awesome, by the way) they marked with little stickers and then found me and we went through them all.
